Festival Award Winners 2020

In light of recent events, this years festival awards ceremony has unfortunately been cancelled - along with the festival itself.

We sincerely appreciate everyone's understanding in these difficult times.

Tonight was due to see the presentation of six awards at the Soho Hotel in Central London, with live music from the incredible We Are All Fossils - entertaining more than 150 guests - in a big celebration of storytelling inspired by adventure.

Firstly, we are all social causalities of the pandemic and as part of this, we sadly had to cancel the band's performance ... To help show them some love, and to provide you with some great music during this socially distanced announcement - we highly encourage you to listen/buy/download their amazing music on the streaming platform of your choice and press play as you read on through the rest of this post ... (some links below).

Secondly, we would like to thank each and every film maker who submitted your stories to this years festival. It was our privilege to watch your work and we are sorry we were unable to share your films on the big screen in London as planned.

As you read on - we ask you to grab a glass, as we raise ours to you all virtually, in celebration of your incredible endeavors and accomplishments.

In these uncertain and unprecedented times, now more than ever, we appreciate the importance and significance of the power of storytelling and the powder to inspire people through the medium of film.

Before you all scroll to the bottom to see who the winners are, please take the time to read a few words from our head judge, Mark Heywood:

Mark says: "When the festival organisers invited me back as a judge for the third time, I had no hesitation in saying yes. Watching the work of independent filmmakers is a privilege. Judging, however, is tough. Very tough, and this year proved to be as hard as ever. Over the past three years, the Four Seasons Film Festival has become an essential part of the documentary festival circuit. The quality of the submissions is stellar, and the production values are staggeringly high when you consider the difficulties of filming in such rugged locations.

"It is important to celebrate success. In our industry, we see so little of it, so when it comes around, we need to embrace it. Sadly, recent events have prevented us from getting together to do this, not just at the screening, but also at the Awards Evening. But just because we cannot meet in person, doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate each others success.

"So let’s do that. Congratulations to you all on your incredible achievements. These films are the reason we go to work — the reason we do what we do. If we don’t, then these stories don’t get told – and we would all be culturally poorer as a result. It can be hard for people to understand why we follow this path. It is hard to explain that we don’t do it because we want to – we do it because we have to. These stories demand to be told, and they consume vast parts of ourselves en route to become fully formed.

"The festival was cancelled for obvious and necessary reasons. But we should never miss an opportunity to celebrate our success. It was a pleasure watching your work and a complete nightmare trying to judge art of this quality. You all deserve your success. So please take a moment to celebrate, and then get up tomorrow and keep doing what you do.

Be very proud."
